Julia Roth

Julia Roth is Professor of American and InterAmerican Studies with a focus on gender studies at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. Her research encompasses: theorising intersectionality (in transnational contexts), global inequalities, gender and citizenship, and recently, right-wing populism and gender, as well as new feminist movements. She was a postdoctoral researcher in the research networks desiguALdades.net of the LAI of the Freie Universität Berlin and Las Américas as a space of university entanglements as well as lecturer at the Humboldt-Universität Berlin, the Freie Univesität Berlin, the Universität Potsdam and the Universidad de Guadalajara. She is one of the coordinators of the research group Global Contestations of Women's and Gender Rights at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) in Bielefeld (2020-21). In addition to her academic work, she organises cultural-political events.
