The notion of the 'New World', associated with the fourth continent (America), is not spatial, but temporal. This means that, without designating a specific part of the world, the New World refers to a world to come and, consequently, to a process of fundamental transformation affecting and reconfiguring all parts of the world. The proposal is that the concept of the world as a universal unity and experiential totality on Earth only emerged with America. This perspective suggests that the universal concept of the world is a consequence of America. However, the New World in question is not yet the world in which only a single humanity lives — that is, the world that emerges with America. Rather, the New World will emerge from this complete world.
