In part it has features of resistance, in part it even legitimises the causes of the crises. It is therefore equally important to have tools to understand religious praxis in the midst of social processes and structures. This book presents a sociological approach to religion based on the praxeology of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, critically extending his methodology and applying it to the empirical study of religious praxis.<br \/>\nThe epistemological thread is a relational concept of society based on the correspondence between the practical meaning of the actors and the objective structures, thus seeking to dissolve the dualism of the object-subject scheme. Instead of this scheme, models are used which allow the reconstruction of religious identities and strategies on the basis of a quantitative and qualitative<br \/>\nanalysis of data in the context of the relationship of social forces and power.<br \/>\nThe central referent is Bourdieu's concept of habitus: the \"embodied history of an actor\", in whose genesis and manifestation<br \/>\nboth subjective and objective factors act.<br \/>\nThe methodological apparatus operationalising this approach has been developed since the 1980s, with particular attention to its suitability for sociological research on religious praxis, mainly in the context of civil wars and post-conflict societies (both in Central America and the Balkans), and with continued refinement in other research contexts to date.<br \/>\nFor the empirical investigation of religious habitus, the original method of habitus analysis is used, which makes it possible to extract cognitive dispositions from religious discourses, reconstruct them in a network model and thus make them transparent for sociological interpretation and comparison between different socio-religious contexts.<br \/>\nDescribed in this way, habitus can be triangulated with models of the religious field and social space, which correspondingly register its relative position (to other actors) in the competition for religious-imbolic primacy and within the overall power relations of the social structure.<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":529,"menu_order":0,"template":"","format":"standard","categories":[22],"tags":[],"autor_in":[89,54,88],"class_list":["post-531","buch","type-buch","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-rethinking-the-americas","autor_in-simoncic-adrian-tovar","autor_in-schaefer-heinrich-wilhelm","autor_in-seibert-leif-hagen"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/buch\/531","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/buch"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/buch"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/529"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=531"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=531"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=531"},{"taxonomy":"autor_in","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.kipu-verlag.de\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/autor_in?post=531"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
