The teaching pack Cold War in Latin America encourages students to look at the global conflict situation after the end of the Second World War from an unusual perspective. Instead of focussing as usual on the competing superpowers and the tensions in Europe, the consequences of the East-West conflict in Latin America are examined. In this way, important aspects of the Cold War will be added to history lessons. It quickly becomes clear that the conflict was not that cold. In addition, the three Latin American examples examined in more detail (Argentina, Chile, Nicaragua) show that, alongside the conflict between capitalism and communism, there were actors who represented their own, alternative positions.<\/p>\n
