Writing with others fosters horizontal dialogue, enabling us to share our migration and family histories and get to know each other. From a decolonial perspective, the author presents testimonies of migration through Mexico and the displacement of Pewenche families due to hydroelectric installations in southern Chile. This book highlights how migration transforms family imaginaries. The testimonies provide an intimate perspective on the intersection of personal experiences and the complexities of neoliberal patriarchal societies in the Americas. The ideal of the "happy family," like the construction of the "poor migrant," loses its power because the testimonies reveal the subjects' agency within inter-American family and migratory changes.
